Harvard Will Honor Colin Kaepernick and Seven others with the DuBois Medal

(TriceEdneyWire.com) - Colin Kaepernick, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, who has sparked a dramatic split between National Football League fans by kneeling on one knee during the National Anthem before NFL games to protest police brutality, will receive the W.E.B. Du Bois Medal from the Hutchins Center at Harvard University.

Comedian Dave Chappelle, Kenneth I. Chenault, former American Express Co. chairman and CEO, Bryan Stevenson, founder and director of the Equal Justice Initiative, Pamela Joyner, art collector and philanthropist, Shirley Ann Jackson, president of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Kehinde Wiley, an artist, and Florence Ladd, Director Emerita of the Bunting Institute and a professor,  also will receive the Du Bois Medal, which is awarded to individuals for contributions they have made to the African American community.
