(TriceEdneyWire.com) - At a standing room only ASALH Luncheon to close out Black History Month, Dr. Lerone Bennett, Jr. former executive editor of Ebony Magazine, appealed to the packed house that Blacks must become their own best hope. Bennett, author of the ground breaking "Before the Mayflower: A History of Black America", said unless African-Americans increasingly involve themselves in their own communities in years to come, these communities will continue to suffer. It was the 85th Annual Luncheon of the Association for the Study of African American History (ASALH), which was founded by Dr. Carter G. Woodson, the Father of Black History.
